Twelve years ago I was poised to carry the momentum of The John Noren Band’s success and local popularity over to the next big step in my music career by recording an album and organizing a tour. That all changed when I met Lana, the woman who would be my wife. Although a successful businesswoman in her own right, she was a mom first and foremost to her young daughter. I fell in love with both of them and made what turned out to be the best decision of my life. I put my music aside to be a husband, father, and provider as we added two healthy young sons to the mix.
Over the last decade, I have worked in sales to provide for my family, yet Lana has never let me forget about my music. My guitar has stayed close as I’ve played for family and friends. Either solo, or with the original John Noren Band, I have played numerous concert openings, fundraisers, and other events. Over the years, on the occasional evening, I would be back doing what I loved to do most, standing on stage playing my guitar and singing.
The fire and desire to perform has never left me and the time has come for me to play seriously once again. In fact, I truly feel that being a bit older and wiser has made me a better musician and entertainer. It’s no longer all about making it big. While I am as eager as ever to play music and see where it can take me, as a father and husband I already have everything that really matters. I am more relaxed and focused on stage and what matters most now is entertaining the audience and enjoying the experience. As long as I am doing that, I will be content with wherever my music leads.
Doing strictly original material, I have shared the stage, opening for many top ranked artists including: Alan Jackson, Joe Nichols, Roger Hodgson of Supertramp, Lou Gramm of Foreigner, Reba McEntire, George Jones, The Powder Blues Band, and April Wine among others.
My focus now is to do mainly cover material. I have worked hard putting together a dynamic and entertaining solo show for smaller venues, but with the Okanagan’s best musical talent close at hand, I am ready to perform as a four or five-piece band at any time.
The music I perform hits a very broad demographic with covers from Tom Petty, Chris Isaac, Matchbox 20, Johnny Cash, Dire Straits, Neil Diamond, Simon & Garfunkel, The Wallflowers, Carlos Santana and many more. I draw on many different musical influences in my original songs and try to put my own stamp on the covers I do while staying true to the original artists' overall feel and intent. I love to entertain and to interpret a song. I know that my passion for music comes across when I entertain and I believe that it helps me to engage my audience.
I look forward to seeing and playing for the many fans that have followed me in the past and introducing my music to those I have yet to meet.
